Kenner explored a talking Yoda toy during the Empire Strikes Back period. Surviving prototypes document multiple stages of the idea, including early heads and a more developed doll concept. Collector research later clarified that some cloth-bodied Yoda prototypes once assumed to be Talking Yoda were actually hand-puppet development pieces, making the surviving Talking Yoda material a distinct branch of Kenner’s attempts to turn the character into an interactive toy.
