Privacy Policy

Updated October 12, 2026

Our privacy commitment

Ranney Index does not sell, rent, trade or monetize your personal information. We do not provide your name, email address, phone number, account information, contact submissions or other personal data to advertisers, data brokers, marketers or unrelated third parties.

Your information is collected and used only when reasonably necessary to provide, secure, support and improve the Ranney Index services you choose to use.

1. Scope of this Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Ranney Index collects, uses, stores and protects information when you use Ranney Index websites, applications, memberships, contact forms and related services. It applies across individual Ranney Indexes, including current and future subject-specific Indexes associated with the same Ranney Index service.

2. Information we may collect

Depending on the features you use, we may collect information you provide directly, such as your name, email address, account information, contact or correction submissions, source links you submit, membership status and other information you choose to provide.

When account and subscription features are enabled, we may also maintain information necessary to identify your account, determine which Ranney Index memberships you have purchased or otherwise been granted, record whether access is paid, complimentary, promotional or manually administered, track renewal or expiration status where applicable, and provide the access associated with those memberships.

2A. FREE visitors, registered accounts and paid membership

You can read the selected complete FREE Kenner Production and Development research records without registering or providing payment information. If you choose to create a free account, we process the account details you provide and maintain the account whether or not you later purchase a membership. Creating an account does not automatically initiate a purchase or subscription. If you begin, abandon or cancel membership checkout, we may retain the relevant account and checkout-status records for access administration, troubleshooting and customer support, subject to our retention practices.

3. Information collected automatically

Like most online services, the systems used to operate Ranney Index may process limited technical information such as IP address, browser or device type, operating system, access time, requested pages, security events, error information and similar server or application logs. This information is used for operation, security, reliability, troubleshooting and abuse prevention.

4. How we use information

We use personal information only for legitimate service purposes, including creating and maintaining accounts; providing membership access; processing and recording subscription status; responding to messages; reviewing submitted corrections or research; protecting accounts and the service; preventing fraud or abuse; troubleshooting technical problems; complying with legal obligations; and improving the functionality and reliability of Ranney Index.

We do not use personal information to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell access to user information.

5. Multiple Ranney Index subject memberships

A user may have access to more than one Ranney Index subject. Account and membership information may therefore identify which subject memberships are active on the same Ranney Index account, together with applicable access source, purchase, complimentary grant, renewal, cancellation and expiration information. Connected research areas that belong to one subject membership are not necessarily separate purchases; for example, the Vintage Kenner Star Wars membership includes both its Production Index and Development Index. We use this information only to administer the services and access you have requested.

6. Service providers and infrastructure

Operating an online service requires certain companies to process limited information on our behalf. These service providers are not permitted by Ranney Index to sell or use your personal information for their own advertising or marketing purposes.

Ranney Index is currently built and hosted using Floot and its managed infrastructure. Application data may be stored or processed through infrastructure providers used by Floot, including managed cloud hosting and database services. We may also use payment processors, email-delivery providers, security services or similar vendors when those functions are enabled.

Information is shared with these providers only to the extent reasonably necessary to perform the service they provide to Ranney Index.

7. Payments

Direct website membership payments are processed through PayPal. Ranney Index does not intend to store complete payment-card numbers or banking credentials in its own application database. The payment processor may collect and process the information required to complete the transaction under its own privacy and security obligations.

8. Floot and AI training

Floot states that data belonging to end users of applications built on Floot, including application databases, end-user accounts, content and files, is not used by Floot for AI model training.

Ranney Index does not intentionally submit personal account or contact information to AI systems for advertising, profiling or unrelated purposes. If AI-assisted development or support tools are ever used to investigate a specific technical or support issue, access should be limited to information reasonably necessary for that task.

9. Cookies, sessions, local storage and service analytics

Ranney Index may use cookies, browser storage or similar technologies where necessary to maintain a login session, remember preferences, preserve saved-item choices, protect the service, measure basic service usage, diagnose errors or provide other requested functionality. We do not use these technologies to sell personal information or create advertising profiles.

Operational analytics, when enabled, are used to understand service reliability and general usage rather than to build advertising profiles. If Ranney Index introduces advertising or other tracking that materially changes these practices, this Policy will be updated and any consent required by applicable law will be requested.

10. Contact forms and research submissions

When you contact Ranney Index or submit a correction, source, sale record, variant note or other information, we may retain the message, your email address, the Ranney Index involved, the page from which the message was submitted, and any source or reference information you provide. We use this information to review the submission, correspond with you when appropriate, maintain research quality, and prevent misuse of the contact system.

11. Data retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, to maintain and administer accounts and memberships, to keep appropriate business and transaction records, to support reactivation, to resolve disputes, to prevent fraud or abuse, or to satisfy legal obligations. Different categories of information may have different retention periods.

When a membership is revoked, cancelled or expires, Ranney Index may retain the member's name, email address, account identifier and membership status/history as an inactive membership record. This helps us administer prior memberships, support later reactivation, prevent duplicate or abusive accounts, answer account questions and maintain appropriate business records. Inactive membership records do not by themselves provide paid access.

12. Security

Ranney Index uses reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the service. The hosting infrastructure used by Floot provides encrypted transmission and provider-level storage protections. No online system can guarantee absolute security, but we aim to limit access to personal information to authorized operational purposes.

13. Your privacy choices and requests

You may contact Ranney Index to ask about personal information associated with you, request correction of inaccurate account information, or request account or personal-data deletion where applicable. Ending a membership or deleting an account are separate actions: ending access does not necessarily require deletion of the underlying account record, and deleting an account may not permit deletion of records that must be retained for legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, security or transaction purposes. Some information may need to be retained where required for legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, security or transaction-record purposes.

Where applicable law provides additional rights concerning access, correction, deletion, portability, objection or withdrawal of consent, Ranney Index will respond to valid requests in accordance with those requirements.

14. International processing

Ranney Index is an online service and its hosting, database, email, payment or other infrastructure providers may process information in countries other than the country in which you live. Where required, we will handle such processing in accordance with applicable privacy law and the safeguards available through the relevant service providers.

15. Children

Ranney Index is not intended to collect personal information from children who are below the age at which they may legally provide consent to an online service in their jurisdiction. If we learn that personal information was collected from a child without the consent required by applicable law, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

16. Legal requirements

We may preserve or disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with a valid legal obligation, court order or lawful governmental request, or when necessary to protect the rights, safety and security of Ranney Index, its users or others. This is not a sale or commercial disclosure of personal information.

17. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when our services, vendors, technology or legal obligations change. The current effective date will be displayed at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated where required by applicable law.

18. Contact

Privacy questions or requests may be submitted through the Ranney Index contact tools. For Kenner-specific membership, privacy or research inquiries, use the contact tools within the Kenner Index. General matters concerning the wider Ranney Index research network may be sent through the Master website contact page at Contact Ranney Index.
