Development storyKenner’s first Star Wars vehicles had to be invented at extraordinary speed. The TIE Fighter conceptual model belongs to the mad rush of 1977, when the company was simultaneously trying to turn the X-Wing, Landspeeder and TIE Fighter into workable toys before finished production examples even existed. The model was hand-built from vacu-formed plastic, styrene and scavenged model-kit parts.
