X-Wing Fighter
The 1982 Micro Collection X-Wing Fighter is the Rebel counterpart to Kenner's break-apart miniature battle toys, but it has its own personality. Rather than relying on lights, electronics or a working S-foil mechanism like the larger action-figure-scale X-Wings, this version turns combat damage into the central event. Push the control and the two-piece fighter breaks apart, converting a tiny display vehicle into an action toy in one move. That approach fits the Micro Collection philosophy. At this scale, Kenner was not trying to reproduce every feature of the larger vehicles. The line worked best when it distilled a scene into one or two memorable actions. For the X-Wing, that meant battle, impact and destruction. A child could fly the fighter into an attack run, trigger the crash feature and immediately reset the whole thing for another pass. The included die-cast pilot is worth speci This is the documented first commercial issue for this territory and anchors descendant packaging, variant and reissue records.
