C-3PO Switcheroo
Kenner issued C-3PO Switcheroo in the United States in 1980 as the first documented U.S. issue of this product/configuration. The C-3PO Switcheroo was one of three separately sold Kenner household novelties that turned ordinary wall switches into Star Wars room decor. C-3PO, Darth Vader and R2-D2 each received their own physical Switcheroo, so the character designs deserve separate product identities rather than one generic assortment record. C-3PO was particularly suited to the joke because he already looked like an overcomplicated piece of machinery. Once mounted to a bedroom wall, the protocol droid became responsible for the least diplomatic task imaginable: lights on, lights off. Collectors should inspect mounting points for cracks or screw stress, preserve original hardware where supplied, and distinguish ordinary installation wear from damage. Packaged examples are desirable precisely because most Switcheroos were made to be attached to walls and used. Historically, the product shows how thoroughly Star This is the documented first commercial issue for this territory and anchors descendant packaging, variant and reissue records. One of three separately sold Kenner Switcheroos: C-3PO, Darth Vader and R2-D2.
