Star Wars Playnts

The 1977 U.S. Star Wars Playnts set is the documented First Issue and one of the earliest Kenner Star Wars products sold before the action-figure line reached stores. It paired large preprinted Star Wars poster art with painting materials, giving children an immediately producible Star Wars activity during the license’s first frantic holiday season. Kenner retailer material continued to feature Playnts through 1979, but no separately identifiable later U.S. package state is currently documented strongly enough to split into another release. This First Issue therefore remains the canonical U.S. production record, with completeness judged heavily on surviving posters, paints, applicators and box condition.
