Star Wars Movie Viewer
Kenner issued Star Wars Movie Viewer in the United States in 1979 as the first documented U.S. issue of this product/configuration. The Star Wars Movie Viewer gave children a way to replay a short piece of the film before home video was commonplace. Kenner’s 1979 retailer catalog lists the viewer alongside the Give-A-Show projector, but the two products use different media systems: the Movie Viewer relies on a film cartridge or cassette and a mechanical viewing mechanism rather than projected still slides. That cartridge is therefore essential to completeness. The index should store viewer function, crank/mechanism condition and film-media condition independently, because a boxed viewer without its movie cassette is not complete. Step 2 will later evaluate image clarity, ease of use and novelty for its era. This First Issue is cataloged separately because its year, packaging or offer state is collector-relevant. Ranney Rank follows the underlying physical product unless a documented construction change exists; Collector Index and market confidence remain release-specific. Featured in 1979 Kenner retailer catalog; Kenner Canada version documented.
