Millennium Falcon

The 1982 Micro Collection Millennium Falcon is one of those Kenner toys that makes more sense the longer you look at it. At first glance it is simply a much smaller version of the most famous ship in Star Wars. But Kenner did not treat it like a reduced-scale model. They treated it like a compressed play environment. That distinction is what makes the Micro Falcon one of the engineering standouts of the entire Micro Collection. The Micro Collection was Kenner's attempt to recreate Star Wars scenes at a much smaller scale using painted die-cast figures and compact environments. That allowed the company to do something the 3¾-inch line could not do economically: put more of a location, ship or battle into a smaller footprint.
