Imperial TIE Fighter
The 1982 Micro Collection Imperial TIE Fighter takes one of Kenner's most familiar Star Wars vehicles and rebuilds the play idea around a smaller scale. By this point Kenner had already produced larger TIE Fighters with lights, sounds and detachable wings, so the Micro Collection version needed its own reason to exist. The answer was simple and effective: make the battle damage the toy. A button activates the crash feature and releases one wing, letting the fighter appear to break apart after being hit. At Micro Collection scale, that is exactly the kind of action that matters. The fixed-pose die-cast figures cannot climb, aim or tumble the way articulated figures can, so the vehicle has to provide the drama. The TIE does it with one clear mechanical event: attack, impact, wing loss, reset. Kenner also let owners choose between pristine and damaged presentation through alternate sticke This is the documented first commercial issue for this territory and anchors descendant packaging, variant and reissue records.
