Hoth Wampa Cave
Hoth Wampa Cave is one of the most character-driven environments in Kenner’s 1982 Micro Collection. Rather than presenting a generic section of Echo Base or an anonymous battlefield, the set focuses on the opening Hoth sequence involving Luke Skywalker, the Wampa, Han Solo, Chewbacca and the Imperial Probe Droid. That gives the playset a story arc rather than simply a location. The cave itself supports two of the set’s most memorable actions. Luke can be hung upside down in more than one position, recreating his captivity in the Wampa’s lair, while a flick-action feature lets the child stage the destruction of the Probe Droid. Those two mechanisms mean the set effectively contains both a creature encounter and an Imperial reconnaissance scene, linked by the common Hoth setting. Five painted die-cast miniatures are included: Chewbacca, Han Solo, the Hoth Wampa, Luke Skywalker and the PR This is the documented first commercial issue for this territory and anchors descendant packaging, variant and reissue records.
