Death Star Escape

Death Star Escape is one of the most mechanically satisfying individual Micro Collection playsets because Kenner built two distinct action ideas into one compact 1982 environment. An elevator moves Stormtroopers between levels, while a heavy laser cannon can be made to explode outward. In a line built around miniature movie moments, that gives this set an unusually strong sense of motion. The scene centers on Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Chewbacca attempting to escape the Death Star while Vader and Stormtroopers close in. Six painted die-cast figures were supplied, each frozen in a pose chosen for that specific sequence. Luke and Leia are firing weapons, Chewbacca is running, Vader is commanding and the Stormtroopers are posed stalking and kneeling. As with the rest of the Micro Collection, the figures behave less like traditional action figures and more like tiny actors permanentl This is the documented first commercial issue for this territory and anchors descendant packaging, variant and reissue records.
