Bespin Control Room

The Bespin Control Room is one of those Micro Collection playsets that explains the entire line in a single glance. Kenner was not trying to make a tiny version of the 3¾-inch action-figure world. It was building miniature movie moments. Released in 1982, the Control Room compresses one of The Empire Strikes Back’s most dramatic Cloud City confrontations into a compact environment with fixed-pose painted die-cast figures and a mechanical trick built specifically around the scene. The centerpiece is the window. Rather than asking a child to imagine Luke being hurled across the room by Darth Vader, Kenner built the event into the toy. A mechanical Force feature sends Luke through the window, turning an otherwise static architectural set into a repeatable little stunt. It is exactly the sort of idea the Micro Collection did best: pick one memorable beat from the film, sculpt everything aro This is the documented first commercial issue for this territory and anchors descendant packaging, variant and reissue records.
